Where the magic happens

As a person who prefers to stay in, not talk to strangers, and is a very quiet shooter…. I stepped way out of my comfort zone for this one. Just days before this, a photographer that inspires me shared a graphic that had two circles. One small circle had a little X and said “Comfort zone”. A larger circle farther away had an X that said “Where the magic happens.” So I put myself out on a limb and approached a beautiful stranger on the sidewalk and asked if I could take a couple quick shots with her and her baby. She was so beautiful and so perfect in the moment. Part of me was terrified to even walk up to someone and ask something like that. We never even exchanged names. I just grabbed a couple of quick ones, slipped her my business card and went about my day. I have to say… it was magic. There was no planning, no preparation of any kind on either part, no work, just a perfectly beautiful woman in a perfectly beautiful moment. It actually felt amazing to know that I actually stepped outside of my zone like that to capture something I saw that I felt was beautiful. Sometimes little things like that surprise you and you can learn a little more and push little tiny boundaries for yourself. It’s those moments that are pure magic. Never stop creating and never stop growing. <3

“Out on the ocean sailing away
I can hardly wait to see you come of age
But I guess, we’ll both just have to be patient
‘Cause it’s a long way to go, a hard row to hoe
Yes, it’s a long way to go but in the meantime

Before you cross the street
Take my hand
Life is what happens to you
While you’re busy making other plans”
